No one’s hangin’ stockin’s up,
No one’s bakin’ pie,
No one’s lookin’ up to see
A new star in the sky.
No one’s talkin’ brotherhood,
No one’s givin’ gifts,
And no one loves a Christmas tree
On March the twenty-fifth.
- By Shel Silverstein
If you think about it, today is 9 months until Christmas and a human pregnancy is 9 months long. Maybe today is a good day to read Luke 1 as a reminder that the birth of Christ was not just wonderful because of the future that it ushered in, but also because of the past promises that it fulfilled. The birth of the Saviour was prophesied hundreds of years before he came to this earth, but it was also foretold 9 months before it happened. Things had been set in motion. Christmas will come in 9 short months!
